The Whippet Water Emergency Vet Fund was established to bridge the gap between injury and recovery. For performance sighthounds and other athletic dogs, a split-second incident on the field can lead to complex orthopedic challenges. Our fund works by providing direct grants to specialized clinics, ensuring that the financial burden of surgery and acute stabilization doesn't stand in the way of a dog's return to the sport they love.
We cover critical interventions including emergency trauma surgery, advanced diagnostic imaging, and initial physical therapy protocols. This matters because for high-performance breeds, the speed and quality of initial treatment are the primary factors in long-term mobility and quality of life. By focusing on the unique physiological needs of canine athletes, we give these dogs the best possible chance to get back on the field.
As a 501(c)(3) mission, your donations go directly from the fund to the veterinary ledger. We work closely with a network of sighthound-savvy practitioners who understand the specific medical requirements of racing, coursing, and agility dogs, providing a safety net for owners when crisis strikes.
